Finally after 15 years of long time Indian Judiciary shown that no one can escape from the hands of law.
Dera Sacha Sauda cheif Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh found guilty of raping two female followers and sentenced for 20 years by special CBI court on Monday.
CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh announced 20 years of jail for the two rape cases, 10 years for each and also fined him 15 lakh rupees in each case.He said both the sentences will be continued consecutively for 20 years.
The court were temporarily set at the Rohtak prison and hearing is done at the prison to prevent a repeat of violence as Friday. Because Thousands of the followers of Ram Rahim were set the Panchkula on fire on Friday.
During the hearing the Dera chief was crying and begging for the mercy and forgiveness,reported source.
Today Anti-Riot Police and thousands of Paramilitary forces blocked all roads near Rohtak prison.Any kind of gatherings were banned in Rohtak and all the residents were warned to stay in their homes. All the colleges and schools were also closed in Haryana.
It all started back in 2002 when an anonymous letter written to the Prime Minister then Atal Bihari Vajpayee by a Dera Sadhvi saying that she has been raped by the Dera chief.
In that letter she also discussed that the accused Dera chief Ram Rahim has also raped several other female followers inside the Dera campus.
Then Punjab and Haryana court took instant action and told the CBI to file a case regarding Sadhvi’s letter against the Dera chief for sexual exploitation in 2002.
CBI were questioned several sadhvi’s wherein two of them come front and levelled the allegations of rape against Dera chief. Both sadhvi’s who were raped recorded their statements to the CBI.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is also going through trials for the two different murder cases one for the Dera follower Ranjit Singh in July 2002 and for a journalist Ram Chander Chattrapati in the same year.
Finally those sadhvi’s got justice but the authorities must open the other case files against the Dera chief to give justice to those who are standing in line like Ranjit Singh’s family and Ram Chander Chattrapati’s family.
